Bill - having a panic moment. There is no USMS entry on the Pinehurst OW swim website. Maybe I'll end up at Latta after all. I emailed the director of Pinehurst to ask what is the deal.

Oh yeah, what about swimming the 10K next year in Pinehurst...I've been thinking it would be a nice event for 2010!

Bill, thanks for the link about sharks and swimmers! The coach here is Australian and there is a good squad of Australian swimmers/triathletes here. They were talking about it but not too worried. Hey, life goes on. Do what you like to do and go for it!
How is the job front? Hi to Linda! Friday is my ocean swim here!

I agree, unfortunate that he couldn't plan better. Why plan your event on a weekend that will most likely exclude the most avid O/W swimmers and triathletes? I'm annoyed.

Bill - not only is that Latta O/W swim the same day as the NC OW Swim in Pinehurst but it is also the same day as the Over The Mountain Triathlon in King's Mountain. He'll have more turtles than swimmers. I emailed him and let him know of his double trouble.

I signed up for Over The Mountain but will get a refund cause I'm not missing Pinehurst.

Great to hear that you are already planning your next trip to the pool. Wow, that was fast healing! There is nothing like being in shape and fit for the recovery of a surgery, for sure! Take it very easy and just be patient with yourself. Awesome to hear positive energy about the work situation... hooray!

Hey Bill, how are you feeling? Best wishes for a quick recovery!

The turtle picture is Michelle's... I was looking at it while I was writing to you... duh, I am sore and I am disoriented, haha, after the workout!... and I need a nap! Take it easy!

That is a cute turtle picture, nice blue ocean! Good luck with your surgery and a fast recovery, but don't push it. I have been swimming
the whole workout, an average of 3600 mtrs, in 75 minutes... It was a toughy this morning with some 'form' included ('form' is other than free and so I did some fly, back and very little breast) and 100's with fins on the 1:40... with these two age groupes next to me taking me along; yes, I am sore!

Hi Bill
How are things going? Someone told us that last month there were 3000 cars abandoned (with keys inside) by people who left the UAE.
It's a worldwide headache... keep hope and faith!

Swimming through the unemployement ranks posted on USMS

I wanted to share how swimming and a good masters program can help those that are unemployed. USMS published the brief article on their web site at http://www.usms.org/ .

Lake Lure Swim

Congratulations to all and especially Rich Guthmann for putting together a great swim this past Saturday. I have participated in many open water swims - this was one of the best. The 1 mile swim was well organized, clean water, good water temperature and a great venue. It reminds you of the water in Pinehurst for the state open water championships except a better venue. I believe this event has an opportunity to be a real winner in the future as a potential sanctioned US Masters swim. Thanks Ric… Continue
